These days are truly gone when photographers were forced to take much more than one shot and develop them to figure out what kind of image was taken – fine or perfect. Most of the modern photographers prefer to use digital SLR cameras instead of old-fashion SLRs. Using these DSLRs photographers are able to concentrate in taking great pictures instead of thinking about how many pictures they have to take because they can simply be deleted away.

SLR means Single Lens Reflex so this name implies the use of lenses and a mirror. The fundamental functioning principle can be described like this: mirror reflects light entering the lens up into the viewfinder and according to this a photographer is able to estimate how the image will likely appear when it is developed. And even more, a SLR camera uses separate lenses that can be interchanged depending on the resolution needed. So, this camera can be used to capture image with varying depths. DSLR camera uses the same basis but instead of a film that records the image, a DSLR camera has light sensor chips and digital memory so we can say that DSLR camera is the computerized version of the traditional SLR camera.

Those who decide on using these types of cameras should really think about investing on memory cards and a lens because equipment is very important if professional career is future option. These useful tips below can be very useful for owners of DSLR cameras in capturing a perfect image using the new art of digital photography.

1. Usually, people take full body shots against a background. But, it is better to take a shot from shoulders up or an upper body one because image of those in the picture really appear small.

2. If it is difficult for a person to take pictures as described above then he or she can take a shot of the person with him or her at one side rather than at the center. Then it is easier just to zoom in so the person appears to be at the center.

3. The law of optics is the same whether using an old or a digital camera. For example, if the sun is behind an image, the picture will be contour. If light is in front of the image, the picture might become squint unless there are sunglasses on.

4. It is better to use your sunglass to act as a polarizer to take away unnecessary reflections from glaring objects.

5. It is also recommended to use a sunglass to increase the exposure of objects.

6. You should be sure that the source of light is perpendicular to the object, when using a polarizer.

7. You can change your white balance setting from auto to cloudy to take better pictures when you are shooting bright landscapes and outdoor portraits.

8. It is not recommended to use the flash mode when the setting is already sunny.

9. It is also better to zoom in to emphasize a certain asset or characteristic of the subject being captured.

10. Practice and more practice and even more practice.

So the bottom line is that that the techniques in getting the perfect shot have not changed but using digital cameras made making pictures available and easy for everyone. No matter what camera you have you should remember that practice is the key to success in making awesome shots!
